Stats: To be updated next month.
I wish I were better about getting her stats at home, but I know she's a little over 20lbs (plopped her on the scale the other day!) But, if she is truly my daughter, she would probably say, "But, Mom, I had on my diaper and you know that adds at least a couple ounces! And, you had just given me a snack and that accounts for another ounce or two! I'm probably more like 18.5 lbs, so let's just go with that number..."
So, here we are 3/4ths of the way through GK's first year! It's so crazy! Sometimes, the days can feel long, but the weeks and months are a blink of an eye...ya feel me?! We'll probably turn around and she'll be 8 years old and then blink and she's 18! I'm weepy just thinking about it! Ok. Ok. I'm getting ahead of myself!
For now, we are living each moment and trying to make the most of it! We are thankful for the blessing and challenge that is Parenthood!
Here is what Little One has been up to:
Sleep-- I feel I can say this without 'jinxing' myself--she, officially and legitimately, sleeps through the night!!! Like 12 hours...in a row...no feedings...no crying. We are blessed! Around 6 months, she started sleeping longer and longer, but pretty much this entire month it's been a consistent 12. She is awake more during the day, which is great! She still takes 2, maybe 3 naps a day. Usually, I push for her to take a 3rd, but it doesn't always stick! Her morning one is just about 1 hour and the afternoon one can go for up to 2hrs. On Tuesdays and Sundays when she's at the church nursery and misses her morning nap, she takes one 3 hour nap and Mommy (me) doesn't know what to do with all that time!!! So, we are GREAT on the sleep-front!
Food-- Interesting topic for us...this girl is a stinkin' machine! She'll eat anything we put in front of her and she'll probably want more even after it's all gone! They say babies have a natural limit and will refuse food when they are full...well, we've hardly ever reached her limit-- I usually just cut her off. It'll be interesting to see how that progresses as she gets older. She gets 4 bottles a day (4 hours apart) about 7-8 oz a piece. We are up to 2-3 solid meals a day. She still gets some baby food/pureed items (sometimes for convenience sake and sometimes for variety), but she eats a lot of table foods nowadays. She LOVES turkey, chicken, cheese, and pears, but then again she likes everything! I don't even remember everything she's eaten at this point, but if an 8 mo old can have it, she probably has!
Play-- She is on the move and quite the chatterbox!!! She basically crawls laps around the house exploring each new room as she goes...living room, office, kitchen, hallway, bathroom, her bedroom--- she just goes and goes. She loves the little coiled door stoppers! We have to be careful b/c the rubber parts come off and are DEFINITELY a choking hazard. She jibber jabbers much of the day! She makes the funniest noises. I tried to post a video, but it didn't work. Maybe I can post one soon-- it's hilarious and bizarre. One of her noises sounds like Russian or some Eastern European language. Where did she pick this stuff up?! She also loves to pull up on anything and everything. Since yesterday (though it's technically in her 9th month), she has started letting go of her music table and our coffee table and tried to just stand there on her own. She doesn't last more than a second or two, but it's funny to see her try it! Speaking of her music table...
it's the best toy we've purchased BY FAR! She can't get enough. It makes her laugh and sing (or jabber) and it seems she really understands pushing different buttons and pulling this or that. We really love it!
Other things she loves: Mommy and Daddy's socked feet-- she finds them hilarious, especially when we move our toes, silly dancing-- this always makes her giggle and giggle, putting things in her mouth-- still!, books-- this kid loves a good book and she'll go for as long as you will! I've read her about 6-7 books in a row once and she still wanted more!, iphones-- who wouldn't?!, looking out the window at the trees and cars, and drinking out of mommy's water glass-- this is MUCH more fun than drinking out of her own...duh!
Odd thing she fears: Animal-shaped bath toys. Bizarre, right? We first tried them out in the bath and she wouldn't touch them! Granted, they did look a little freaky just floating on their sides in the water. So, we tried them on dry land...still no luck. She literally CRIES when we try to get her to touch them. We are working on it, so I'll keep you posted!
Not so sure about this, Mom!
My little foe, we meet again!
Hmmm... closer, but still not ready to touch!
It's been such a fun month! Exciting adventures next month include: GK's first plane ride and another fun trip to Dallas! Yippee!
Cutesy Pictars:
What do you mean, 'it's not supposed to go in my mouth'??
Enough with the camera, ok, Mom?!
