Bad Mommy! Bad! This is me scolding myself over the fact that I did not properly record my sweet little girl's 10th month of life! And, to add some salt to that wound, the little photo shoot I had for her on Dec. 14th (10th month) was not uploaded to the computer before we readied our cameras for Christmas (ie. the pictures were deleted!!!!!!) Plenty of Christmas pictures and the like were taken so that can serve as her 10 month shot and her activities really have a lot of crossover through each month. Therefore, alas, there are worse things in life! I guess I could hashtag this paragraph (if I did such things, which I don't...normally) #blessedparentproblems.
So, we are forging ahead to 11 months! (celebrated on Jan. 14th)
11 month stats:
Weight: approx. 22 lbs.
Height: ???
Food-- Her weight didn't actually change much in the last couple months, which concerned me a bit! I'll admit I was a tad insecure about her chubbiness at 9mos (I know. I know. I'm kinda neurotic like that!) even though the doctor was not at all concerned. So, I've really only been feeding her 4 bottles a day at 7 oz and one small meal and a snack. Now that she's almost 12 mos and her weight hasn't changed, I realize I need to feed her more solids in preparation for the crossover to 3 meals a day with a little whole milk. She's been able to feed herself since about 6 months old and we recently borrowed a friend's high chair (love!), so she eats a couple meals a day-- completely feeding herself, along with her bottles. She went about 10 months without any sweets, but celebrating her first Christmas, she got to sample quite a few things-- ice cream, milkshake, cookies, cake. Not all at once, of course. But, back home she doesn't get any of that-- just special occasions! She still will eat anything-- I gave her some lemon and pickle slices once-- gobbled them up without batting an eye! Besides still avoiding nuts and honey, she's has sampled whatever is available.
Sleep--Still rocking the 12 hour nights. Readjusted to about 7-7 again at Christmas, which was nice. Takes about 2 naps at 1-2 each.
Play-- Leaps and bounds in this area! For one thing, at about a week before her 11month bday, she started taking steps-- lots of them! Within the last 3 weeks, she now is full on walking! Laps around the couch, down the hall, around the room (but, I guess I should save that for next month!) Even back to 9 mos, she loves to climb over things like the shelf in our side table (I'll have to post a picture), over and around the legs of the high chair, and especially, UNDER things! This one is hilarious! Watching her tuck her little head down and army crawl under the coffee table-- and even the guest bed! She bangs her head along the way, but loves it! Occasionally, she gets stuck and I have to pull her out . :)
She has officially said her first three words (all independently verified of course!) BALL was her first word! She has always been good at saying consonants like "B" and "D", so while we played with the ball (she has a great throwing arm, by the way) we would practice saying it and she started mimicking! She proudly said it many times over Christmas with the family! Her next word was DOG. Over Christmas, she saw lots of dogs at the Wheeless house, so I assume that's where it first came from, but then when we got home and read picture books and such, she started pointing to the picture and saying 'Do Do'-- dog without the hard 'g', not dodo like the bird. Now, on our daily walks, if a neighbor is walking their dog, she points and says 'Do(g)!' Love it! Lastly, after taking down our first Christmas tree (sad day) I put the star from the top on our mantle. She kept pointing up to it (because she loooves to point these days-- so rude, I know!), so I told her STAR each time. Then, she starting pointing and saying 'Sta Sta'! She was so cute and proud of herself! Of course, we ate it up and encouraged her! So, we reiterate them often!
Her cognitive reasoning has really developed the last couple months! If I ask her to go get her ball, she goes and gets it. If I tell her other simple tasks, she can do them! That also means she has finally learned the word 'no'! Sometimes, she obeys and sometimes not. Here is a typically scenario: Georgia is walking/crawling around the room and starts moving toward the fire place's glass doors. She starts pulling them open (which is a no no since she can (and has) smashed her finger in it). I tell her 'no no, Georgia. That's a no no.' She looks at me and sometimes will keep touching it. I start to stand up and she immediately turns and high tales it away from me! So, do you think she knows what she is doing?!?! I.think.so.
She has started stacking blocks, instead of just wanting to knock the ones I stack over. Though, she will only stack two blocks-- anymore than that and she has to just knock it over. It's funny! She also has started trying to put shaped blocks through the correct holes! She is able to occasionally luck herself into the right hole, but just that she is trying is a great improvement! She used to be so fixated on putting things straight into her mouth, but now she can play with toys and things without always having to keep it in her mouth.
Still obsessed with books!
She sits for 20 min at a time just on the floor turning pages back and
forth in her big cardboard books. The
other day, again, probably should be in next month (oh well!), she picked up her good
night moon book, walked over to me, handed it to me, and climbed into my lap,
turned around to face forward and crossed her little legs at the ankles ready
for me to start reading!!!! How precious?!?
Made me want to cry!
She babbles and ‘talks’ ALL.DAY.LONG. I really wish I knew what she was
saying! In her 10th month,
she finally started saying ‘mama’ with more frequency and now she says it often—though
‘dada’ is still her favorite to say!
My dad taught her how to give kisses on the cheek over
Christmas! I ask for some kisses at
least 3 times a day! We also taught her ‘hugs’
where she just rests her head on your chest and lets you hug her! Someday soon I know she will hug back!
Whew! Are you sick of
hearing about GK, b/c I’m sick of typing!
This post was long, but there are so many things I want to keep track of
for my future kids! I even left out a
few things, bc I want to wrap it up!
As I always say, she is an amazing child – just like
everyone else’s kid—but I’m glad she’s MINE! She fills my life with unspeakable joy each day and I would never trade a moment with her for all the money in the world!!!Blessings to you and yours!
She is such a doll! Miss u guys... hopefully we will get to see you when you move to Omaha. I have a sweet friend who lives there and she has a little girl who is 9 months. I can connect you with her if you want:)
