Passing on a tradition.

My parents did this little diddy to my siblings and me often when we were young. So much so that my sister thought her forehead was a 'forebender' for...let's just say...far too long. :)

Mommy Beeper

It's not often you can get a 'buzz' in a Baptist church on a Sunday morning...

Little GK was apparently having trouble sleeping in her Sunday School class, so with about 15 min left in the service, I got paged to the nursery. I should have told them earlier that she does better sleeping in a crib or a swing than in one's arms. Poor little thing was crying so hard and the mom-volunteer commented that she is 'quite a fighter'! Atta girl! Haha. Hopefully, we can use that passion in a competitive way in the future. :)

But, I was sad she wasn't able to rest. She stopped crying when I held her and soon fell asleep in my arms as we waited for the service to end and join Daddy in the lobby.

Now, 2.5 hours into her nap, hopefully, she'll wake up feeling better. :)

Answer: Join a public library

So, yesterday I headed to the closest of 40 public libraries in Jefferson County and got myself a library card!  I was very impressed with the facilities and selection!  They even have a super easy electronic checkout where I use my library card (which fits on my key ring) and just place my books on a pad where it reads the barcode and checks it out in my name for 3 weeks.  I love technology!

Here are my first picks:

A modern etiquette book (just to brush up on my p's and q's-- I am in the South now!), a book by Chuck Colson (been meaning to read his stuff for a while now), a Christian fiction novel (who can resist Janette Oke!?), and a presidential profiles book (it has a one page synopsis on each president and I think this is a great way to learn more about each one without being bogged down with too much info.)

Rather eclectic mix, but I wanted to keep it interesting.  I'm halfway through The Centurion's Wife and am really enjoying it.

But... I need your help!

Please email me or feel free to comment your suggestions for my next visit!  I love Christian fiction, spy/military thrillers, classics, period pieces (such as Pride and Prejudice), and Christian 'inspiration'-type books.

Any suggestions are appreciated!!!

Humbled

Sometimes, when I feel a bit lost and don't know what to do, I just have to get on my knees and cry "Hosanna!"

Tonight, that's what I did. 

My favorite part is the bridge:

New Bedding is Here!!!

Yay!  It is lilac and green, modern and soft, feminine and perfect!

26 years and counting...

I had the privilege of celebrating my birthday this week!  It was filled with some of my favorite things:

~Hot shower
~Make up
~Scrambled eggs/egg whites with sausage and a little cheese
~Jelly Beans
~Moist yellow box cake with milk chocolate icing
~Orzo
~Long Nap
~GK {duh!}
~My honey {doi!}
~Phone calls from friends and loved ones

Whew!  Awesome day-- despite having a Dr.'s appt. in the morning.  James had Wed and Thurs off, though F/S/Sun he is on call working 7pm-7am.  James made me feel special all day!  Starting the night before, he helped me get a little more sleep than normal by getting up to feed Georgia for her 3am night feed.  This was the first time he's fed her at night--ever-- partly because she wouldn't take a bottle for a while and partly because I'm an awesome wifey like that:)  I still woke up and checked on how it was going when he was feeding her (old habits die hard), but it was still really nice of him and is a relief to know in the future if I'm sick or something that he could help out in that way.  Then, he made me breakfast and coffee (did you know we are now coffee drinkers?!  Keurig has changed our lives!:))


He said I could go anywhere for lunch and after driving around a bit, I decided Whole Foods would be perfect!  It may sound like an odd choice, but my great PwC work buddy-- Kelly C. -- introduced me to the wonderful salad bar and cafe area.  I was craving something light (still working on dropping the last few prego pounds) and thought it would be a fun 'outing' and we wouldn't have to worry about dirty looks from fellow patrons carrying our sweet Georgia into a nice restaurant!


We had a great time walking around, eating free samples, and looking at all the beautiful food we can't afford.  Then, we grabbed some grub and a booth and had a lovely, relaxed lunch with GK in tow.  

Can't beat a good salad!  Loved the orzo, too.  CA roll and some Izze-- best.lunch.ever.

The rest of the day was spent napping, playing with GK, and blowing out my candles.  A wonderful, relaxing day feeling loved-- who could ask for more?!

OH and my bday present from James is 2 tickets (4th row) to see The Civil Wars live at the Alabama Theater.  To say I am excited would be an UNDERSTATEMENT!!!  I haven't been this excited about something in a while!  There is a bit of delayed gratification involved-- the concert is in October, but I can't wait!!!   Now, we just need to find a babysitter...
