I've just spent the last half hour of Baby Girl's nap catching up on all my favorite blogs of close friends and a few random others I just like to stalk... :) I haven't spent much time on the computer lately and I don't read blogs typically on my iPhone, so it was great to read a bunch of fun posts all at once!
It made me miss my dear friends in Houston and across the great state of Texas so very much, though! Sometimes, I wish life was back to how it was in Houston and that we were able to just carry on with our same friends in the same city in the same church. Back where my comfort level was set at 'cozy'.
Yet, at the same time...how boring is that?!? God knew James and I needed a good old-fashioned 'stretching'. He knew neither of us were the types to willing jump off the cliff of life without a thorough and logical assessment of the waters below. So, what did the great Author of our lives do?! He called us to a life that holds a degree of uncertainty. Where after 3 years of marriage, we finally were able to see the next 4 years of our lives (1 in Bham, 3 in Omaha), and now we wait again to know the next few years. It's been a difficult, but rewarding time of waiting; of patience; of TRUST in Him who gives us strength. I haven't always been totally on board every minute. Sometimes, I wish I could already envision where I would raise my kids and where Georgia would attend school in 4 years (whaaaat?!)
But, God has been faithful-- oh, so faithful, my friends! Each step, He gently reminds us that, ultimately, HE is in control. And, I am just trying to hang on and enjoy the ride! If nothing else, I believe God has led us to The Church at Brookhills here in Birmingham, led by the 'radical' Dr. David Platt. In just a few short months here, this church, this man, this Gospel have revolutionized our thinking and changed us forever. How we live, how we give, how we serve, how we love, and how we 'church' will never be the same. So thankful am I for the relationships we've already made and for the work God is doing in our hearts, in our marriage, and in our lives.
What a mighty God we serve!
