We've been a member of Netflix since about Sept. of 2010 and finally pulled the trigger on ending our cable subscription and just having Antennae TV about 5 months ago. I'll admit that I wasn't a happy camper about losing cable for the first couple of months! I definitely missed me some HGTV, Food Network, Fox News/CNN, and, my guilty pleasure, Bravo! But, then I really started exploring the world of Netflix and commercial-free viewing! LiveWell network on channel 13.2 and 13.3 is also pretty great with their helpful lifestyle programming! Motion and Mirror Mirror are personal faves! Anyway, I digress!
Netflix has been great! I thought I would go ahead and tell you some of my favorite programs to watch and maybe you can comment on a few of yours!
Note: All of the below are on instant streaming.
Documentaries:
- Freakonomics -- such interesting concepts that will make you think and blow your mind!
- Maxed Out -- I don't completely agree with everything espoused by this one, but it's definitely an eye-opener about scheming credit card companies. Bottom line: DON'T ACCUMULATE CC DEBT - no company can force you to make purchases you can't afford, but they WILL work it to their supreme advantage when you do.
- One Percent -- the rich are getting richer, but in my humble opinion (IMHO), mo' money mo' problems!
Stand Up Comedy:
- Brian Regan
- Anjelah Johnson
Sitcoms:
- Dick Van Dyke - someday I'll wear daydresses and black cigarette pants just like Laura ;)
- Cosby Show - FAVE
- 3rd Rock from the Sun - one of James' fave, but pretty entertaining
BBC:
I am mildly obsessed with the British Broadcasting Corporation. I have watched so many of their tv shows and productions over the last few months, but here are my favorites. One week I watched so many British movies that I started speaking with a British accent in my SUBCONSCIOUS. It was bizarre. Anyway, enjoy!
- Jane Eyre
- Wives and Daughters
- North and South
- Daniel Deronda
Random Assortment:
- Emma
- Sense and Sensibility
- About a Boy
- One Night with the King - movie adaptation of Esther!
- Les Miserables
We have very similar netflix taste. May I recommend you watch Downton Abbey on streaming? It's a new, BBC period-drama series. I know! All those words are magical to your sense and sensibilities. Enjoy! and thanks for sharing your life and insights.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Katie! I will definitely look into Downtown Abbey! I appreciate the recommendation:)
