4 month stats:
(these were actually taken at 3.5 months b/c we got her shots a little early before we moved to Alabama, therefore, she is quite likely a little bigger!)
Weight: 14 lbs. 15oz (90%)
Height: 23 2/3 in (50%)
Head Circumference: over 16 in (can't remember exact inches, but the percentile is 80%)
This past month Georgia:
Attended her Daddy's graduation from medical school, drove through 4 states, moved into her new home in Alabama, and went on her first vacation in, appropriately enough, Georgia (though she is NOT named for the state!). She also rolled over, slept in her crib through the night, sucked on her thumb and pacifier, and hiked a trail (or at least was carried) for the first time.
Also, *drum roll please* we have successfully transitioned her to her crib-- bye bye swing! Thanks for the extra sleep you helped me get!
Ugh. It's been weighing so heavily on me this whole time that we used the swing as a crutch for so long. All the baby books I've read about sleep have chastised me about it and I've really felt some 'mommy guilt'. But, the last time we tried to transition her again (we've tried all along the way) at around 2.5 months old she just wasn't having it! Whether we put her in there asleep (she would immediately wake up screaming) or if we tried to put her in awake (still with the screaming...) I wish I had just taken my sweet Pediatrician's advice when he told me not to stress about it that it will happen when she's ready and she's no worse off for it. And, guess what, he was RIGHT!
We literally just put her in the crib with bated breath (awake, but sleepy) a couple nights ago and she fell asleep with just a little light whining. It was the easiest thing I've done so far! And, we haven't looked back since! All naps and nighttime are in the crib and we put her in awake to lull herself to sleep! Thank goodness I didn't have to wrestle with the whole 'cry it out' business. The swing is being relegated to the back of the storage closet until Baby W #2 comes along (which won't be for a while!)
So, I recount this saga with you to encourage my fellow parents not to stress or worry about certain things. Your kids won't be screwed up if you don't do everything by the book!
Until next time, keep enjoying 'la dolce vita'.
