Churchy Pt.3

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

"Great is Thy faithfulness!" "Great is Thy faithfulness!"
  Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
    "Great is Thy faithfulness," Lord, unto me!

As we walked out of the house this morning to head to church, I felt a breeze brush my hair back off my shoulders.  Is that a nip in the air, I sense?  A fresh scent of leaves harkening of fall's approach?!

Corny thoughts aside, I pushed back any feelings of today turning out well.  We were headed to try another bible study and I feared getting my hopes up again.  We dropped Georgia off at the nursery and headed down the long walkway to the door of the class.  It was closed...we were a little late.  James and I hesitated.  I said that I would open the door and he should go in first.  He said 'are you sure I shouldn't get the door and you go in?'  It was just a few moments, but I felt that if we waited any longer, I would turn around and walk away.  How silly are we?!  So, I jerked the door open and we stepped inside...

Let me just say that I like to pride myself on being able to size up situations within minutes.  Well, after about 1 minute in that room, I spent the next 5 minutes thinking, "Thank you, Lord!  Thank you, Lord!"  It was the best group of people I've had the pleasure of meeting in quite some time and a sight for sore eyes!  They were exactly what we were looking for and more!

I feel ridiculous talking about 10 strangers like this, but you have to understand how much we've been longing for community (if I haven't made that abundantly clear in my previous posts!)  We were met with warm smiles, hearty hellos, and a sense of joy, peace, and love washed over me.  The lesson was wonderful, thought-provoking, and encouraging.  The class is going through a Christian parenting book together.  The girls meet together once monthly, the class has a social coming up in September, and they all have 1 child under the age of 3.  One girl is even from Houston!  At the end, everyone stayed to talk and get to know us better . Before we left, two women said they would call me this week.

Does it get any better, my friends?  Why does God continue to be faithful to this unworthy servant?!

As I quoted above, the best summation of today's events are thus:

Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Who is like You, oh Lord?!  How great Thou art!
